The Accra Regional Police Command has launched investigations into the death of an unidentified woman suspected of having been killed by an unidentified person in an Accra hotel.
The body of the deceased who is believed to be in her 30s was found a day after an unidentified man, described as Nigerian in tone, booked a room at the hotel, where they both spent the night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, head of the Command’s Public Affairs Unit, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
She said that on March 3, 2021, the hotel operators in Kokomlemle made a report, that a man with a Nigerian accent booked a room on Monday, March 1, 2021, and then received a visitor.
DSP Tenge said the male customer left the next day and did not return, but on Wednesday March 3, 2021, hotel operators broke into the room and saw the visitor motionless on the bed.
DSP Tenge said police proceeded to the scene at the hotel and saw a lady in her 35s, dead in the room.
He said the body was examined showing wounds suspected of having been inflicted with a sharp instrument.
Ms. Tenge said that there was no way to identify the deceased and that the hotel management had a poor record.
“They couldn’t write details of their clients in the book even though they had one for that purpose. The hotel also did not have CCTV coverage that would have helped the investigations. “
DSP Tenge said investigations have started in the meantime and crime scene experts have visited the scene.
DSP Tenge said efforts were underway to identify the deceased while investigations continue.
