Police deployment in Mahama’s office could be a possible intimidation tactic – Sam George

Ningo Prampram’s deputy-elect has faced police personnel deployed in the office of former President Joh Mahama.

He said the deployment could be a possible government intimidation tactic against the NDC.

“We have just arrived at our flag bearer’s office and we encountered a confrontation by the police department. We have not requested the police; here we don’t need police protection. We don’t know what they are here for, so we don’t need them here, ”Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George told the media.

Meanwhile, dozens of policemen have packed into the former president’s office to ensure peace and order there.

The move nearly ended in a fight between the police and party-hired security officers who insisted that police service was not necessary.

However, the division commander who heads the police team indicated that her team had visited the area to ensure sanity after receiving reports of roadblocks.

Sam George, on the other hand, rejected the claim and insisted that the party had not behaved in a way that would disturb the peace in the area.

“We, as the NDC, have also done nothing to justify a police invasion,” he said.

Prior to this, the NDC had accused the ruling party of collaborating with the EC to manipulate the election results.

The party at a press conference on Wednesday also called on its supporters to resist any attempts at intimidation by security personnel.
