The Regional Police Command of the High West Region has carried out a mass burial of all the bodies that are unknown and not claimed in the morgue of the Regional Hospital.
This comes after unsuccessful attempts to track down the relatives of the bodies that were deposited in the morgue by the Regional Police Command after criminal operations.
A statement signed by Regional Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng, indicated that they had no choice but to contact Environmental Health and the District Assembly to bury the body, as hospital authorities persistently asked the Police removing the bodies as the morgue is congested and creates an unbearable situation at the facility. “
Below are the places and circumstances that led to the deaths of the deceased:
1. IN HALEMBOI / WA EAST DISTRICT: On 08/02/2020 an unknown adult male suspected of being of Fulani origin was lynched by a mob in a robbery scene in Halemboi in Wa East District.
2. IN TAKPO: On 08/13/2020 in Takpo, around 5:40 am, six armed men from Fulani extractions were involved in a robbery case and two of them were shot by the police and one was lynched in Siiro by a crowd.
3. IN CHARIA: On June 7, 2020 at around 2:00 am, an unidentified man, aged about 26, suspected of being of Fulani origin, was lynched in Charia by a mob where he and his accomplices tried steal cattle in Charia near Wa.
4. IN PIISI: On August 24, 2020 around 2:30 a.m. M., A young man of Fulani origin was armed with a gun and another, another accomplice who is now on the loose, intercepted a Sanyong minibus and another with passengers escorted by Sawla police. to Wa. The police shot him when they tried to rob the passengers.
5. BY BUSA ON THE WA BULENGA ROAD: On 09/05/2020 at around 02:30 am five armed men robbed road users on the outskirts of Busa along the Wa-Bulenga highway. When the robbers saw the police, they started a shootout and one of them is believed to be of Fulani origin, in his 30s, sustained gunshot wounds and died, but the others managed to escape.
