Police arrest 6 more suspected criminals in second assassination plot against Gender Minister

Six suspected criminals who allegedly made another assassination attempt on the life of Agona West MP Cynthia Morrison are in the hands of Swedru Divisional Police Command.

Intelligence compiled by Security in Swedru revealed that the suspects, John Toko, 26; Emmanuel Mensah, 25; Elvis Kwabena Poku, 36; Kwabena Poku, 48 years old; Wahab Saeed, 26, and Kweku Amponsah, 26, were using a Corolla taxi with registration number (AS 4534-19) to follow the MP on the Agona Otsenkorang road.

The parliamentarian who is also the Gender Minister was on a campaign tour from that city and its adjacent villages, a source from the Divisional Police Command told the GNA.

The source said that the MP and his campaign team suspected the behavior of the occupants in the taxi after realizing they were being followed and reported the matter to the police.

According to the source, the alleged criminals had been staying for the past five days in a hotel in Swedru under the pretext of galamsey in the area.

He said police watched them at the hotel until they arrived at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Toko tried to escape upon seeing the police, but was eventually arrested.

They were searched and found eight mobile phones, an NDC identification card with registration number (41047603-A) and the branch card number (A 151501) in Toko, who said he was from the central constituency of Amanfi from the western region.

Two Talismen were found on both arms of Saeed, who also had charms on his waist, five rings, and green military vests.
