Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP Kwasi Mensah Duku has indicated that police investigations are closing in on suspicious individuals involved in recent shootings in Kumasi.

Speaking to JoyNews, COP Kwasi Mensah Duku stated that the police are about to arrest the alleged assailants involved in the attacks on people in two separate shooting incidents in Kumasi.

“We have started the investigations and we have come a long way. I believe that in the next two weeks, the police will be able to arrest the people involved in these crimes in Kumasi. We have enough evidence on these suspects, “he said.

The first incident Monday involved a man in his 30s who was shot and killed at a friend’s home after his money was stolen.

A day later, an unknown assailant shot a Chinese citizen in the arm, causing panic among the residents of Ahodwo in Kumasi.

The commander of the Regional Police assured that all the alleged aggressors will be arrested in a short time.

“I cannot reveal their identities now, but I want to assure you that we are very firm on the ground and very soon, they will hear from us,” he said.

Ashanti Regional Security Council chief Simon Osei Mensah encouraged residents to provide information to the police to help fight crime.

“When you come for any information, do not hesitate to contact the police.”

He assured that security agencies will guarantee the protection and anonymity of all people who voluntarily provide information.
