Osman Musah, the 2020 New Patriotic Party (PNP) parliamentary candidate for the Garu constituency in the Upper East region, has called on Party members in the area to bury their differences and unite before the general elections of December.

The first time a parliamentary candidate who was consumed by emotions knelt as he pleaded with Party leaders in the constituency to find ways to forgive each other and work together to overthrow the Democratic National Congress (NDC), which has held the post since 1992. .

Musah made the appeal during the inauguration of a 29-member election campaign team by the PNP ahead of the December elections.

It should be recalled that after the 2019 PNP primaries, in which Musah won against Emmanuel Asore Avoka, the district’s executive director for the area, the two and their supporters have had unsolved problems.

Since then, the problems have created divisions and disputes within the Party in the constituency, making it appear fragile ahead of the general elections.

Addressing Party delegates at the opening ceremony, Mr. Musah, who was a Program Officer at ActionAid Ghana, a non-governmental organization, said that the victory in the primaries was for the Party and not for an individual and that he needed everyone working to take the NDC seat.

He noted that the seat had been in the hands of the NDC since the beginning of the Fourth Republic and that factions within the Party in the constituency would move the Party seat further away and place it firmly in the hands of the NDC.

The parliamentary candidate pleaded with the DCE and his supporters to forget the primaries and prioritize the interest of the PNP so that they can work together for the 2020 victory.

Anthony Anamoo, Upper East Regional Party Chairperson, noted that over the years the Garu constituency’s performance in the general elections had ranked third, behind Bawku Central and Navrongo Central, yet it was surprising that the Party would not have won the seat. since 1992.

He said forgiveness after the primaries has been the Party’s nightmare in the Constituency and urged the two parties to unite and campaign together as a single unit to wrest the seat from the NDC and give real meaning to the many development projects. being implemented by the government to improve livelihoods.
The regional president challenged the campaign team to work tirelessly and coordinate effectively with the electoral areas and the campaign teams of the polling stations to ensure that the message of the PNP reaches the electorate well.

Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, Member of Parliament for Tempane and Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General in attendance, advised constituency executives to demonstrate strong leadership and unite the two factions to work for victory in the December elections.

Musah faces stiff competition from Mr. Albert Akuka Alalzuuga of the NDC, who is the incumbent MP, and Mr. Dominic Azimbe Azumah, former MP from the then Garu-Tempane constituency and Minister of State in the Office of the President during the regime of Professor Atta Mills, who is running as an independent candidate after losing the NDC primaries in 2019.
