The vice president has indicated that the government’s Food and Employment Plantation program has improved agriculture and allowed the country to export 17 different crops abroad.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia explained that such food crops are plentiful and Ghana can afford to export some.

Addressing the heads and people of Tatale in the North Region, the Vice President said that there is a greater supply of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs and that they are accessible.

According to him, the situation is an indication of the state of abundance of food in each district so that everyone can eat.

“We have reduced the prices of fertilizers and it is very accessible. The 50% price reduction is very accessible to our farmers across the country and in every district in this country, farmers grow more and there is more food for everyone to eat.

He said 69 wells and 5 water systems have been built in small towns in the Tatale district to deal with water problems.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that the partition for mining projects in Shani’s iron ore will begin in 2021.

“There is so much wealth in these hills, but since independence, we have done very little to mine and explore these minerals,” he said, adding that the government is committed to adding value to the resource.

He said the law has been passed and the board established and everything is ready to go to work.

“We have chosen two important resources in addition to gold. And so we are doing the integrated aluminum and bauxite industry, we passed a law for that and the other is iron ore and that is going to be based on Shani’s reserves here, “he added.
