Gerard Piqué believes that the Spanish referees who support Real Madrid cannot be impartial on the field.
His statements come nine months after former international referee Eduardo Iturralde González assured that nine out of ten Spanish referees are Real Madrid fans.
“The other day a former referee said that 85 percent of the referees support Real Madrid,” Piqué told Post United.
“How are they not going to whistle in favor of Real Madrid?
“Even unconsciously, how can they not give more on one side than the other?
“And I respect the professionalism of the referees and I know they try to do their best work, but when a moment of doubt comes …”
When asked if Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos control in any way what is happening in Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively, Piqué was clear that neither of them imposes their will on their clubs.
“I don’t think so, I’m very convinced,” added Piqué. They have stature and can give their opinion and, from there, decisions can go one way or another.
“When you have a board of directors or a president who is very strong, who has clear and correct ideas and wants to do something, the player has little to say.
“Sergio [contract] The renewal is an example of when there is a strong president, he makes a decision and wants to take that path and the players cannot do much. “
Piqué went on to emphasize that he has never worn any of the Real Madrid shirts that he has exchanged for years.
“I’ve never used [a Real Madrid shirt]”Piqué pointed out.
“I have changed them and I have Real Madrid shirts at home.
“I have Cristiano’s [Ronaldo], [Karim] Benzema, [Sergio] Bouquets … several.
“Putting myself on is beyond me.”
