Former Deputy Health Minister Robert Joseph Mettle-Nunoo, John Mahama’s third witness in the 2020 election petition, was expected to testify in court on Friday.
However, due to his health condition, he was unable to mount the witness stand at the Supreme Court.
Therefore, the court granted that his testimony is taken through Zoom from his residence in the presence of a designated judicial officer.
Mettle-Nunoo, along with Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, represented Mr. Mahama in the strong room of the Election Commission during the December 2020 elections.
The cross-examination did not occur because the second defendant’s lead attorney, attorney Akoto Ampaw, objected to the witness statement.
President Akufo-Addo’s attorney asked the court to strike out 23 paragraphs of Mr. Mettle-Nunoo’s testimonial statement, which contained 32 paragraphs.
The seven-member panel, led by Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, ruled that five paragraphs will be removed from the witness statement.
The court session was postponed until Monday 8, 2021.
