Ghana’s Black Satellites came from behind to beat Burkina Faso and win their first WAFU Zone B U-20 title in Benin on Saturday.
Burkina Faso started the game by strongly dominating the game in the opening minutes as Ghana warmed up in the game.
Kouame Jean Fiacre Botue broke the deadlock for the Young Stallions in the 15th minute when he took advantage of a defensive error and passed the ball by Ibrahim Danlad.
The Black Satellites reacted quickly and tied it through Daniel Afriyie Barnie, who took advantage of a Precious Boah free kick and scored in the 40th minute.
Hamed Quattara’s cross hit the carpentry and nearly gave the Young Stallions the lead, but the carpentry came to the Ghanaians’ rescue.
Precious Boah once again scored off a free throw in the 79th minute from 35 yards to increase the Black Satellites’ lead.
It was his second goal of the tournament from set pieces.
The Black Satellites will participate in the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations tournament to be held in Mauritania next year as WAFU Zone B Champions.
The Burkina Faso Young Stallions have also qualified for the competition after reaching the final of the WAFU B tournament.
