The Democratic National Congress (NDC) is holding a vigil in honor of its founder, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The vigil is held at the Spot Work at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange in Accra.
Already seated are the NDC standard bearer, John Dramani Mahama, and his wife, Lordina Mahama.
Among other family members in attendance, two of the late former president’s sons graced the event, Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings and Kimathi Rawlings.
Also in attendance were the running mate of the NDC standard-bearer, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, other party dignitaries and some members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Dressed in black and red, some supporters arrived at the scene around 5 in the afternoon.
The solemn event is expected to end at 12 p.m.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings passed away on Thursday, November 12 at 10 am.
The 73-year-old man is said to have died after contracting Covid-19 and was rushed to the intensive care unit at Korle-Bu University Hospital in Accra.
