Chelsea legend Petr Cech believes Mikel Arteta can turn things around at Arsenal and has urged the board to back the Spaniard.
Arsenal manager Arteta is under increasing pressure in North London and the results continue to work against his team.
The Gunners have the second worst form in the Premier League since the fifth week of play and were beaten in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals last time.
Cech, who played alongside Arteta at Arsenal, is well aware that the Gunners are performing well below the standards expected of them.
But he is equally confident that Arteta can still turn things around.
He said talkSPORT: “It is difficult for any coach when the results are not going well and then you try to change the way the team plays or the philosophy of football.

“When you start to change a bit, you need time. Also, to implement that faster you have to make everyone believe in it, you also need some results.
“As soon as you’re on the soccer field knowing you’ve won three on the rebound, you don’t worry less about what’s going to happen, you just worry about your game, you just keep going and all of a sudden say ‘Oh, this works, that works’.
“It’s a lot about trust. The moment you hit the wall, this is the moment when you need everyone to go in the same direction and help you.
“This is the hardest part in football because it’s easy to suddenly say that this is not working and do something else, but you can’t do that all the time.
“But of course in modern football it’s the results that count and at the end of the day you need to find the balance to be successful and the way you do it.”
