The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) held its 25th awards ceremony on Saturday 24 October at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, to recognize distinguished journalists and media institutions for excellence.
The event had as theme: “COVID-19 and credible presidential and parliamentary elections: the media factor. “
Despite the media (DMG) won several individual and industry awards overnight. PeaceFMflagship program “,Kokrokoo“was awarded the Best Morning Show in Akan (Rait gave), While UTV“s”Adekye Nsroma“picked up the Best Morning Television Show of the Year (Akan).
Aside from these historic honors, PeaceFM and UTV were named Radio Station of the Year (Akan) Y Best TV Station of the Year (Akan) respectively.
There were also individual honors for UTVNewscaster, Afia Sarpong Kumankuma and one of the station’s flagship presenters “Adekye Nsroma“morning show, Dickson Tweneboah Kodua for his outstanding coverage and interpretation of issues surrounding COVID-19 pandemic.
UTV photojournalist and cameraman Joojo Agyare was also recognized for his work and consequently honored.
Meanwhile, lawyer and TV show host Samson Lardy Anyenini was awarded the 2019 PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year award.
Mr. Anyenini, who runs the law firm, [email protected], is also the host of the news analysis program, Newsfile of Joy FM.
