Striker looks ahead to next 2020-21 season in Ghana’s top flight
Hearts of Oak returnee Patrick Razak believes the team is on track to lift the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title after a series of disappointments.
The most successful club in Ghanaian history, the Phobians have failed to get their hands on the royal headband since a successful campaign in 2009.
They currently have 19 titles, four fewer archrivals, Asante Kotoko.
“We have [good and quality squad in the Hearts of Oak team], “Razak, who has rejoined Hearts for the upcoming 2020-21 season after a frustrating spell with Guinean team Horoya, told Ocean TV.
“Those of us who are part of this team will perform well this season. Our goal for the season is to win the Ghana Premier League.
“Hearts of Oak has the opportunity to win the GPL with the quality that we have, we can compete against any team.
“I would say that our ability to win is high and we know the strength of the teams in Ghana, so I will say that Heart is capable of winning the League.”
Hearts is set to open its 2020-21 GPL campaign with an away clash with Aduana Stars on November 14.
“We’ve been reviewing how we haven’t won a trophy in a while, but some of the great clubs in the world have also gone a long time without a title,” Hearts of Oak CEO Frederick Moore told Kumasi FM in June.
“The most important thing is that we have one of the best board presidents, a good board and good players.
“The continental club championship cannot be taken away from us because of what we have done in the past. With consistency at the top, I think we are now on our way to more important things.
“I am very confident that Hearts of Oak will start winning trophies soon. We are building one of the best academies that will rival any academy in the world. “
On a continental level, Heart last ruled Africa in 2005 when they won the Caf Confederation Cup, defeating none other than rivals Asante Kotoko on a penalty shoot-out.
