According to the Agona Swedru native, he is still processing the disappointment he received in 2018 after the organizers passed up his hit song “One Corner” for the award for “Most Popular Song of the Year.”
He told GNA Entertainment that he would not be a part of the awards for the foreseeable future until the organizers change their focus from awarding successful musicians.
“The idea of awarding musicians is not a bad thing and VGMA has been around for a long time,” he told GNA. “I’m still not happy with the disappointment in 2018 after my hit song ‘One Corner’ didn’t win an award despite its positive impact on the world stage.”
“I have decided not to participate in the awards program, but I wish you well and urge you to do the right thing.”
Patapaa was also unhappy with recent comments from Shatta Wale, who sarcastically labeled him an underground artist.
“I was very surprised when I was labeled an underground artist considering my impressive records.
“My songs are played globally and have been featured on some big international platforms with some American musicians like Chris Brown dancing, and to me, no musician in Ghana can match this record.” he said.
