Ghana’s parliament approved the GHS 27 billion request made by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Friday, October 30, in the budget statement for the first quarter of 2021 that he submitted to the legislature.

Ofori-Atta sought parliamentary approval for more than GH ¢ 27 billion by the first quarter of 2021.

He said that this amount is to cover the expenses necessary to continue with the government services with respect to the coronavirus period.

In his budget statement presented to Parliament on Wednesday, October 28, Mr. Ofori-Atta asked the House to approve an estimate of ¢ 27,434,180,520.00 GH to be withdrawn from the Consolidated Fund.

Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, chairman of the Parliament’s Finance Committee, who presented the Committee’s report on Friday, October 30 on the request, assured that the committee “has thoroughly examined the request,” as it supported the request for funds. of the state.
