Some parents have praised the government for the gradual and successful opening of schools in the country despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
A parent section said they are happy that their sophomores in middle school and high school will begin their academic year on Monday, October 5.
“They have been home too long and once the schools have implemented the protocols, we are happy that they are back,” said one parent.
They said the pandemic had underscored the importance of e-learning and urged the government to consider reforms in the education sector as well.
One mother, Madame Suzie Amevi, called on the government to equip public schools with e-learning facilities, Internet access for teachers, and an Internet library for students against future academic disruptions.
He also praised the government for helping schools disinfect all classrooms to ensure that schools were well prepared to resume academic activities.
Mr. Lawreence Adu Osei, also a father, said: “My mentee is at JHS 2, but I don’t see the seriousness he takes to learning at home because I’m not always at home to supervise his studies, so I’m happy that they go [this] next Monday “.
David Ametorgbe, a father of two and a merchant, said the long closure of schools had affected the academic activities of pupils and students and said he wanted freshmen to resume lessons immediately as well.
A second-year student at Teshie LEKMA school, Miss Jane Adjetey, said that the Ghana Television learning channel had helped them catch up on their studies at home, although the 30-minute length needed to be revised.
“I am happy to go back to school. I missed my school activities and my friends. We hope to observe the Covid-19 measures to prevent the spread of the disease, ”he said.
A student at Mount Zion Basic School in Nima, Miss Rose Sarpong said that she had forgotten most of the things she studied because, from the beginning of the confinement until now, she has had to help her mother sell in the market.
