Ghana’s High Commissioner for the United Kingdom and Ireland, Papa Owusu Ankomah, recovered after hiring Covid-19 earlier last month.
In a statement from the Commissioner, he thanked each and everyone for their prayers and good wishes towards him, his family, and the commission during their difficult times.
“Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude and I am fortunate to know that I have the concern of each and every one of you,” he said.
In his statement, Pope Ankomah also expressed his gratitude to all those who supported him in various ways while he was indisposed, including the President, Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, who helped manage affairs in the Alto. He extended his gratitude to the health workers who cared for him and ensured his safe recovery.
“I am inspired by their skills, diligence, selflessness, sensitivity and devotion to the call,” he said of them.
Papa owusu Ankomah tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday April 10, 2020 and was shortly dispatched to the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Free Hospital, London.
The High Commission in a statement said the Commissioner was responding well to the treatment and asked for prayers for his full recovery.
The Commissioner in his statement of recovery recognized the devastating effect the pandemic has had on world economies and the lives of people around the world.
However, “I remain optimistic and I firmly believe that the UK and Ghana and the rest of the world will overcome this virus.”
He called on Ghanaians in the UK to adhere to all safety precautions put in place by UK authorities to mitigate the spread of the new coronavirus.
