The 2020 election may have been the physical act of casting, counting, and matching ballots, but there was certainly a spiritual twist.
While the main battle was between incumbent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Dramani Mahama of the Democratic National Congress, there was a relatively small but interesting battle between pro-NDC prophets and a prophet who aligns with the NPP.
The 2020 elections pitted two of the country’s three best-known prophets in the country against each other as they offered different prophecies about the election outcome.
Standing on one side of the ring is Reverend Owusu Bempah of the Chapel of the Glorious Word with Prophet Badu Kobi and Nigel Gaisie in the other corner.
Owusu Bempah, a well-known NPP sympathizer on countless occasions, predicted Nana Akufo-Addo’s victory.
At some point, his attacks on John Dramani Mahama, the standard-bearer for the Democratic National Congress, made it appear that he was following the orders of his party and candidate Akufo-Addo rather than conveying a message from God.
His reputation and integrity took another hit after his prophecy about the US election failed.
He contested that, but his critics maintained that he in fact predicted Trump’s victory.
“In all humility, I want to tell Ghanaians to know that from what I saw, Nana Addo will win the election. When the time for the elections comes, normally the seat is empty because the citizens are about to make a decision, but Ghana’s seat is not empty, the president is still sitting in it. “
“It amazes me that some prophets are saying that John Mahama will win the election. Nana Akufo-Addo is still in the seat, she hasn’t left it. In 2016, I saw that the seat was empty. John Mahama was not in the seat. The prophecies that are circulating show that some people don’t see things before speaking, but as for me, I only speak when they have revealed it to me, ”he said on Net2 TV on November 30.
Badu Kobi and Nigel Gaisie were on the side of the opposition leader, John Dramani Mahama.
Both claimed to have received revelations from God that Mahama was going to return to the Jubilee House and direct the affairs of the country for another four years.
“I didn’t want to say anything to make Ghanaians say that I’m lying, but I can see John Mahama’s victory coming, he’s going to surprise people and nothing can change it,” Nigel Gaisie told Kofi TV in October.
Badu Kobi’s reputation was badly damaged by his failed prophecy about the American elections, so perhaps he was counting on it to work in his favor.
Fortunately for Owusu Bempah and unfortunately for Gaisie and Badu Kobi, the teller of the presidential elections in Ghana, Jean Mensa announced the result of the December 7 elections with Nana Akufo-Addo winning the race.
Akufo-Addo won with 6,730,413, representing 51.595% of the total votes cast, while John Mahama of the Democratic National Congress won 6,214,889 representing 47.366% of the votes cast.
The result of the elections means that Owusu Bempah’s prophecy was fulfilled while Gaisie and Badu Kobi failed.
