The Council says that the acts of violence and anarchy that precede and follow the declaration of the results of the December 7, 2020 elections are not Ghanaian and tend to undermine the peace, which is why it urged all aggrieved people to seek a repair through established standards.
A statement issued by the Council on Friday condemning what it described as “recent acts of election-related violence taking place in different parts of the country and especially in Greater Accra,” the chiefs said, while the elections in Ghana of 2020 have been widely hailed as a success. and has been praised by “national and international observers as credible, transparent, free and fair”, which “has further deepened Ghana’s democratic credentials”, however acknowledging the fact that not all people are satisfied with the results of the elections.
“However, we must remember that we live in a country that is based on a constitution and governed by laws. Therefore, any disagreement regarding any aspect of the electoral process must be addressed and resolved using the appropriate procedures prescribed by law ”, advised the chiefs.
According to the bosses, they are dismayed, like many other Ghanaians, “by the events that have unfolded before and after the declaration of the results by the Electoral Commission” and “believe that these events will undermine peace and freedom. fundamental on which our country is founded and what we all currently enjoy ”.
“Therefore, we unequivocally condemn the acts of violence and anarchy related to the declaration of the electoral result that are being perpetrated. This is not a reflection of the Ghana we want to build for future generations, ”advised the bosses.
“However, we must remember that we live in a country that is based on a constitution and governed by laws. Therefore, any disagreement regarding any aspect of the electoral process must be addressed and resolved using the appropriate procedures prescribed by law.
According to the bosses, if events persist, they will undermine the fundamental peace and freedom on which the country is built and which everyone now enjoys.
