A person claiming to be a supporter of the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) died after a commercial vehicle collided with a peace walk in Ellembelle in the western region.
Twenty-three others have also suffered varying degrees of injuries in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Sunday around 5:00 pm when the driver of the car popularly known as jet Nzema lost control of his vehicle and ran into supporters who were embarking on a walk for peace as he the general elections were approaching.
Currently, the 12 injured are in critical condition while another 11 are responding to treatment.
Speaking to Ina-Thalia Quansah of JoyNews, the NDC’s regional public relations officer, Kirk Mercer alleged that the accident was a deliberate attempt orchestrated by the ruling New Patriotic Party to harm some of its opposition supporters.
Meanwhile, six NDC supporters were killed and 50 others injured when the truck transporting some of their supporters from Frante to Ejura was involved in an accident in the Ashanti region.
Upon receiving the news, the leader of the party, John Mahama, took a sad detour to the hospital where they have been admitted and has promised to pay the bill for all the victims.
