Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he misses the jokes in the club’s locker room.

Solskjaer has had meetings with his players through a Zoom video, but says that it is not possible to replicate the feeling of actually being in the locker room.

The Norwegian revealed that during a video chat the jokes between the players stopped when he showed his face.

Speaking to BT Sport, Solskjaer said: “ With today’s technology, children stay in touch in different groups.

“The last time we had a video call in the first 15 minutes, I never put my video on and the jokes went and went and as soon as I pushed for my video to go up, everything went quiet.”

United has not played since March 12, when it faced LASK Linz in the Europa League, and Solskjaer hopes to meet his squad again.

He said: ‘It is a strange period, but you must make the most of it and do the best you can.

“We can’t wait to play again and be in a dressing room, get together, shake hands, talk in a soccer dressing room, all those things that you miss.”

United currently occupies fifth place in the Premier League and Solskjaer is eager for his team to improve further.

The arrival of midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in January has certainly given United a boost, as Solskjaer acknowledges.

Solskjaer said: ‘Of course we are trying to improve all the time and develop as a team and now we have a good team to choose from. And hopefully we’ve been taking care of each other in the two months, but let’s try playing it by ear. Let’s go back to training first and hopefully play soon.

“It was a reconstruction, I made some difficult decisions and with the participation of some young players, but I think we have shown that we have made a good decision.”

‘Bringing Bruno was an exciting move and we look better and better. We are 3 points from Chelsea, so of course we want to play again and try to catch them. ”
