Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has advised Anthony Martial to remain calm in front of goal to rediscover his form.

The Frenchman has struggled to stay fit this season compared to the previous one, scoring two in eight appearances so far.

Martial enjoyed an exciting 2018/19 season, scoring 23 goals in total in what was his best season.

Speaking ahead of their Champions League clash, Solskjaer said that Martial could regain his good form, while also explaining that the three-game suspension as a result of a red card slowed him down.

“Anthony really developed last season. I think he has made great strides to become the forward we know he can be, ”said Ole enthusiastically.

“But Anthony is no different from other players on our team. [in] that he has not had a preseason as usual and that he is working to get to his best form.

“Obviously he lost three games – or three and a half, almost four games – because he had a three-game suspension and that. [the sending-off] It was very early in the Tottenham game. So he lost a little football. Too much football. He scored against Basaksehir the last time [with] a good header, so we hope he continues to work hard to get back to his best level.

However, Solskjaer said he has seen positives in Martial’s game, including regularly putting himself in promising scoring positions.

“We want Anthony to stay calm,” said the chief. “I thought that with France, against Portugal, he showed his qualities as a center forward, [by] get into positions. So [Rui] Patrick made some good saves and that may have affected Anthony’s confidence.

“For me, he is the one who has opportunities, that’s the most important thing. Because I know that your conversion rate has always been good. Maybe at this point, the goalkeepers have made some good saves against him, but that will change quickly.

Martial could have a chance to find the back of the net when United host Basaksehir on Wednesday night in a Champions League game.
