Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned opponents of the Champions League Chelsea: we go for you.

Manchester United are three points clear of Chelsea with nine games of the season to play when soccer resumes after the coronavirus pandemic.

And Old Trafford boss Solskjaer has revealed that catching Chelsea is United’s number one goal when games restart, with the next trophy on their wish list with their stars still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

“We are three points from Chelsea and we want to start playing again and catch them,” says Solskjaer.

“We have both cup competitions, which are a bonus and maybe there is a way for a final or a trophy for us.

“Fortunately, all the players have been taking care of each other for the two months we’ve been away and we just have to play it by ear and hope to click early.”

With long-term injury casualties Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford will play when soccer returns, possibly on June 12, Solskjaer is optimistic that his stars can rediscover the vein the way they were before the crisis in global health stops sport.

United were undefeated in their last eleven games before soccer stopped: they won eight and tied three.

Their last Premier League match was a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford over Manchester City – giving Solskjaer hope for a strong end to the campaign.

“We are trying to improve all the time to develop as a team, now we have a full team to choose from when we return,” Solskjaer told BT Sport.

“Hopefully, consistency comes. We have had to make some difficult decisions, but the young players are showing that we have made a good decision.

“We have signed Bruno Fernandes, which is exciting and the three players we signed from the beginning have given us stability and we look better and better.”
