Manchester United will have to wait a little longer to find out the extent of David de Gea’s injury after being substituted at half-time against Southampton.
The Spanish international appeared to have been injured dealing with a Ward-Prowse free kick in the 33rd minute of his 3-2 win at St. Mary’s and was replaced by Dean Henderson.
De Gea is now a doubt for the Champions League match against PSG in the middle of the week, although Henderson can comfortably intervene.
Speaking after the game, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had the following to say;
“A hit just above the knee so hopefully it’ll be fine by Wednesday, but we don’t know,” Ole told MUTV’s Stewart Gardner after our dramatic 3-2 win.
“Let’s do a little scan or check tomorrow [Monday], but Dean came and looked very confident. “
De Gea wasn’t the only one to limp at St. Mary’s, as Alex Telles was replaced by Brandon William later.
Solskjaer will have more decisions to make in the coming days, and Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay will also miss the match.
Illness ruled out Martial, while the two midfielders were unable to shake off injuries in time for the match.
