Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Okyenhene has asked the people of Akuapem to support the newly installed chief so that peace and unity remain in the area.
Okyenhene indicated that the struggles and misunderstandings that characterized the imposition of the new chief had passed and disappeared and should not eat Okuapeman’s hallmark of peace.
He said the people of Okuapeman owed it as a sign of respect and support for President Nana Akufo-Addo, who comes from the area to allow peace to prevail.
The Okyenhene made these comments at the Kyebi Palace when the new Okuapemhene Oseadeyo Kwasi Akuffo II was presented to him in accordance with custom and tradition.
The Okyenhene exhorted the new Okuapemhene to listen to the advice of his elders and the people who gave him authority.
He reminded Oseadeyo Kwasi Akuffo not to allow anyone to despise his youth and assured him of Okyeman’s support.
The Okuapehene who ascends on the Okuapeman stool known as Ofori kuma is considered by tradition to be Okyenhene’s nephew who sits on the Ofori Panin stool of Akyem Abuakwa.
Nana Osim Kwatia, Gyasehene of Akuapem and Chief of Akuapem-Amanokrom, who reported to Okyenhene said that all traditional rites and procedures had been followed to install the new Okuapemhene.
He said “after a long fight, we want to inform you that we, the king-makers, have installed someone to succeed Oseadeyo Addo Dankwa, whom we lost about five years ago.”
Nana Dokua, the Okyenhema also reminded the Okuapemhene that life was full of mistakes and therefore he should be humble and listen to advice.
The new Okuapemhene, known in private life as Odehye Kwadwo Kesse Antwi, 34, a graduate and old boy from Presbyterian Boys High School, is the ninth to ascend the Ofori kuma stool in Akropong.
Despite the fact that many Okuapeman and Okyeman supporters packed the palace to witness the event, the social distancing protocol and the use of face masks were strictly enforced.
