The Microfinance and Small Loan Center (MASLOC) will offer loans to victims of the Odawna market fire that occurred on Wednesday.

The fund is to allow women whose goods were destroyed in the pedestrian mall near the Kwame Nkrumah interchange to go back to work.

MASLOC’s board chairman Seth Baah Acheampong made this known when a team from the Center visited the market to assess the impact of the fire outbreak.

“They have given us a list of about 4,000 from the Municipal Assembly. We met the union leaders. We also met NADMO and we have to gather them into groups and then help the right people, ”he said.

The president of the MASLOC board of directors is working on how much loan to give to the market to women who lost their goods and positions in the fire

Mr. Acheampong assured the distressed merchants of his continued support until they return to work.

For his part, MASLOC Deputy Director General in charge of Operations, Abibata Shanni Mahama said that they ensure due diligence in the disbursement of funds.

He stressed that MASLOC has the interest of women at its heart, which is why around 80 percent of the funds are given to them at low interest.

Ms. Abibata Shanni Mahama promised that the disbursement will be made without any partisan interest.
