The Supreme Chief of Pulima and the Gandawii Traditional Area in the West Sissala District of the Upper West Region, Kuoro Osman Deiwa practically moved to tears on Wednesday, November 10, when he gave testimony about the impact of the much-talked about Free Senior High. School Policy (SHS).

The Free SHS policy was introduced by the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in September 2017 to the surprise of many, including the opposition Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) who had literally mocked the policy and ruled out the possibility of its implementation.

The policy leaves room for all Ghanaian children who qualify for upper secondary education to be freely placed in a public upper secondary school for their secondary education to be cared for and absorbed by the government.

It has benefited many who otherwise could not have paid school fees.

This is what forced an obviously overwhelmed boss, Kuoro Osman Deiwa, to share his joy during a meeting with President Akufo-Addo at Jubilee House tonight.

“The introduction of the Free Senior High School policy has touched a raw nerve of struggling parents like myself who am struggling not to be emotional about the impact of that policy,” that’s how it started.

Their reason was simple: “the positive impact is unimaginable.”

“In fact, His Excellency must be doing something extraordinary to make his political opponents want to continue politics should they win the mandate of the people of Ghana in the impending elections,” he said.

For the case, he said: “Mr. President, when you finally step down as the Constitution provides, please note that your name will be captured in the history books as the only president who has given Ghana’s school-age children all at the same time to cultivate and nurture their brains so that future leaders will come and harvest for growth … from Ghana ”

The chief also took the opportunity to praise the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) and Rearing for Food and Export (RFE) programs as good initiatives that couldn’t have come at a better time.

That, he said, was because “most of the farmers in my area are now prolific corn growers, thanks to FSY policy.”

Therefore, he congratulated the Minister of Agriculture, Owusu Afriyie Akoto for the work of a landowner, as he firmly believes that the land of Sissala can now feed the whole country for a year and a half with grains, as suggested by the regional Minister of the High West, Hafiz. Bin Salih.

“Your Excellency, on behalf of the people of the Upper West region and, for the rest, of the land of Sissala, the bosses here thank you for the planting of food and jobs”, to a spontaneous applause from their relatives and other government officials present. .

The Pulima Kouro narrated that the policy ‘One constituency, one ambulance’ has also helped save lives, revealing that “recently, there was a bloody accident, but for the timely intervention of the Ambulance Service, the story would have been different. ”

However, it lamented the deplorable road network in the Upper West region, but was quick to admit that had it not been for the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, work progress on most of its roads would have been in advanced stages. if it hadn’t been completed.

Kuoro Osman Deiwa appealed to the President to help repair the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga highway to alleviate the suffering of travelers, as well as the main Tumu-Gwollu highway honoring the late President Hilla Limann and the Tumu-Welembelle highway- Kojokwale.

President Akufo-Addo thanked the chief and his people for their kind words of praise.

He promised to help fix the aforementioned pathways, some of which he said are on the drawing board and will be addressed and asked for his support in the next election.
