Sammy Gyamfi, national communications officer for the largest opposition, the Democratic National Congress (NDC), says it is surprising that the PNP’s focus in the 2020 elections has been John Mahama and nothing else.
According to him, this is evident in the party’s mention of John Dramani Mahama’s name in all public events organized by politicians.
In a social media post, the lawyer stated that regardless of the agenda to smear Mahama’s brand, the NPP’s agenda is failing.
“It is now obvious that President Akufo Addo and the NPP’s obsession with the name ‘Mahama’ can no longer be discounted. In fact, for those who had time to count, it is said that President Mahama’s name received more than 1000 mentions during the recent launch of the NPP manifesto, far more than any political proposal that the NPP presented to the people of Ghana, ”he said. .
Adding that “Indeed, President Akufo Addo’s own incessant references to the name ‘Mahama’ in almost all of his public appearances, confirms that the central focus of the PNP’s campaign this year is President Mahama and nothing else. But suffice it to also say that this campaign based on a ‘Mahama phobia’ is unraveling.
On the president’s call to the Conference of Catholic Bishops to condemn John Dramani Mahama’s labeling of the people of Akyem as “sakawa,” Sammy Gyamfi noted that the president does not have the moral right to speak about ethnic sentiments when he has been silent about the abuse of his party of other ethnic groups in the country.
Apart from keeping silent about his political party’s mistreatment of some ethnic minority groups, the president has been involved in insults while in the opposition and is therefore in no position to convict anyone for insults.

It is now obvious that President Akufo Addo and the PNP’s obsession with the name “Mahama” can no longer be discounted. In fact, for those who had time to count, President Mahama’s name is said to have received more than 1,000 mentions during the recent launch of the PNP manifesto, far more than any policy proposal the PNP presented to the people of Ghana.
In fact, President Akufo Addo’s incessant references to the name “Mahama” in almost all his public appearances confirm that the central focus of this year’s PNP campaign is President Mahama and nothing else. But suffice it to also say that this campaign based on a “Mahama phobia” is unraveling.
In the video below, President Akufo-Addo is asking the Conference of Catholic Bishops to condemn what exactly is it? So is President Akufo Addo really on the lookout for political coups on social media, while pretending not to see or hear about any of the state-sponsored acts that have threatened and continue to threaten the peace and cohesion of this country?
Can President Akufo Addo remind himself of his description of “ECOWAS citizens” in reference to a particular ethnic group and the deliberate misuse by state security agencies against that ethnic group during the recent registration exercise? voters? Weren’t you in this country when Adansi-Asokwa PNP MP KT Hammond described the sheep as Togolese?
So has President Akufo Addo not heard of the state-sponsored ethnocentric harassment of sheep and Northerners in Banda, Ketu Sur, Ahafo Ano Norte, among others, during the recent voter registration exercise?
Once again, has President Akufo Addo forgotten his description of the blessedly remembered President Mills as “The Professor recently,” as well as his recent description of his critics as “detractors” and “political Jeremiah”?
Until President Akufo-Addo rises above pettiness to address these critical issues that actually border on Ghana’s peace and cohesion, I would regard his comments in the attached video as one more joke of his own. Let me remind you that the 2020 elections are about rescuing this country from its bad government and divisive government and not about indulging its pettiness and frustrations.
