John Boadu, secretary general of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Party will go to court for electoral irregularities after the Electoral Commission (EC) has officially declared the 2020 general elections.
According to him, an election official voted during the Special Voting on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 and voted again in the main election on Monday, December 7.
He noted that the conduct of the election official amounted to a multiple vote and would question the outcome of that particular polling station in court.
Although Mr. Boadu did not reveal the exact polling station, the incident did occur.
John Boadu told reporters in Accra on Wednesday, ahead of the 2020 presidential election declaration.
He indicated that although the leaders had agreed to sign the parliamentary declaration form for that particular constituency, the Party will go to court to obtain redress.
Boadu said that according to the Party’s tabulation of the general elections, the PNP had won 137 parliamentary seats, however, four or five parliamentary results were in dispute and he believed that the PNP would win those seats to form a majority in Parliament.
“We are a Party of Peace and we did not win the elections just to win, we won to develop this country,” added Boadu.
Ghana went to the polls on December 7, 2020 to elect a president and 275 MPs to run the country’s affairs for the next four years.
