The ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) has hinted that it will keep Suame’s deputy, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, as the majority leader in parliament.

The party also appointed Effutu MP Alex Afenyo-Markin as the new Deputy Majority Leader in place of Dome Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Sarfo.

This comes after the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana.

After the elections, the current parliament is expected to be dissolved so that a new parliament is sworn in.

This will be the eighth parliament in the country. It is also likely to be a hung parliament as no party was able to obtain an absolute majority in the parliamentary race.

However, the PNP, before the new Parliament took office, has made some changes in its leadership in the House.

The party is expected to replace current Majority Leader Whip, who is Sunyani East MP Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, with Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP Frank Annoh Dompreh.

Kpandai MP Matthew Nyindam and Trobu MP Moses Anim have also been removed from their post as deputy chief of whips.

Tolon MP Habib Iddrisu and Mfantseman MP Ophelia Hayford are expected to replace them.
