The Chairman of the Volta Regional Nuclear Power Plant, Makafui Woanyah, inaugurated the South Ketu Campaign Committee
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) inaugurated what it calls a strategic campaign committee to implement the agenda of winning the Ketu South parliamentary seat and increasing the votes for President Akufo-Addo in the December elections.
The committee would spearhead campaign activities in the stronghold of the opposition Democratic National Congress, hoping to reverse the gap of more than 57,000 votes in the 2016 general election.
Opening the committee, the chairman of the Volta Regional Nuclear Power Plant, Makafui Woanyah, urged members to commit to their respective roles to consolidate the party’s achievements.
He expressed optimism that a well-mapped campaign with grassroots commitments on development projects delivered in the area will help attract voters to vote for the PNP.
“The PNP that the people of Ketu South do not vote for provided the constituency with a Divisional Police Headquarters, a fire station, among others, not to mention the many social interventions from which they equally benefit,” he said.
He indicated that the amount of development leveraged in South Ketu by the NDC over the years does not equal the massive votes it received in previous elections, showing that the opposition party is only taking over the South Ketu constituency and, for that matter, the Volta region “for a walk.”
“Considering the percentage of votes the NDC gets in Ketu South, they should have built roads in gold to the homes of the electorates.
“When they were looking for a running mate, they went to the Central Region, where they received almost 40% of the votes.”
“We believe in empowering the individual to be self-sufficient, that is the central philosophy of the party,” he emphasized.
Mr. Woanyah, therefore, implored the voters of South Ketu to judge the PNP parliamentary candidate David Tianor, as the NDC members of parliament who have represented the constituency throughout the fourth republic failed to comply.
Tianor indicated that he has been a grassroots person, therefore he has identified the challenges of the locals and is ready to solve and take advantage of the development for the south of Ketu if it is voted in favor.
He added that he had already started to deliver his development agenda for the constituency and hopes to do more if he is given the node on December 7.
“Although I have not yet been elected, I have purchased two tractors for the constituency. Now all the farmers have to do is feed it and plow their farmland. “
The occasion was also used to launch the Ketu South chapter of the pro-NPP group, Staunch Queens, to help mobilize the vote for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP parliamentary candidate.
Ketu South NPP constituency chairman Samuel Petit Haligah, Volta NPP regional organizer Emmanuel Bodja and Mr. Woanyah received commendations for their contribution to the development of the elephant fraternity in the region.
