Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dramatically reduced corruption with the adoption of digitization in various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.

Dr. Bawumia noted that digitization has eliminated the human interface that facilitated corruption in the agencies of various government departments and has improved service delivery.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi sen program on Wednesday (September 30, 2020) monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he said that the use of digital processes at the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority has not only eliminated corruption but has accelerated the vehicle registration and licensing process.

Some other areas that have been digitized include the implementation of the paperless ports system in ports, the use of medical drones for the delivery service, the electronic purchasing system, the digital address system, as well as the interoperability system of mobile money that allows improving financial inclusion of the unbanked, among others

On the prosecution of alleged past and present corrupt government officials, he said that the PNP was currently prosecuting 42 former officials and will not hesitate to prosecute the PNP officials when their files are prepared.

“The introduction of a digital license and vehicle registration, online application for passports, the paperless ports system, the online renewal of the National Health Insurance membership has reduced frustrations, petty bribes and corruption Ghanaians face in their daily lives when they encounter these institutions. “He revealed.
