Executives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Effiduase / Asokore constituency say they are happy with the president’s removal from office of the district executive director (DCE) for the area, Mary Boatemaah.

President Akufo-Addo fired Madam Mary Boatemaah on Wednesday after she was reportedly implicated in an audio recording featuring constituencies against the area’s acting MP, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie.

It also comes after a series of agitations against her leadership style by some district chiefs who accused her of abuse of power and improper award of contracts.

Many party stalwarts in the constituency feared that Madame Kunko’s actions could jeopardize the electoral fortunes of the ruling party in her stronghold.

While the removal of the DCE is not directly related to the bosses’ unrest, a statement signed by constituency executives praised President Akufo-Addo for the action in an interview, adding that “we knew the president would do the right thing. because everything was very bad; the lady was incompetent and was not aware of the problems. “

“The constituency wishes to use this medium to apologize to Nananom of Asokore Traditional Area for the insults that the then DCE, Hon. María Boatemaa Marfo made them rain and I promise to come to see them soon,” the statement continued.

“The constituency, therefore, will mount all the steps and will focus to achieve the 90/90 goal,” the executives also assured.

Mrs. Mary Boatemaa was asked to leave her post earlier this week by order of President Akufo-Addo.

The letter seen by Dailymailgh.com, and copied to Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah, was signed by a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Minister of Rural Development on September 23, 2020.

“The Executive Director of the outgoing District must duly deliver [the Regional Minister] before leaving office, ”the letter said.

His successor, Kwame Adom-Appiah, who was later appointed to the position, had his nomination revoked in less than 24 hours.

The government did not provide any additional explanation for the decision.
