The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sympathized with the family of the member of Parliament for the Mfantseman constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford.
The NPP MP was shot dead by assailants on Abeadze Dominase – Abeadze Duadzi – Mankessim Road on his return from a field trip.
It is believed that he was attacked around 1:00 am on Friday morning by 6 armed highwaymen.
The development has received broad condemnation with calls for law enforcement agencies to get to the bottom of the matter and get the culprits to face the law.
The party’s national body has joined the cause while expressing shock at the incident.
“On behalf of the leadership of our great Party, I send our sincere condolences to the family and the electorate and assure them of our unwavering support at this difficult time,” Freddie Blay said in a statement.
The declaration signed by its National President on Friday is read in more detail; “This is a sad day for the Party and the country as a whole.”
“We call on law enforcement agencies to urgently investigate and report the perpetrators of this cruel act,” said the PNP.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, awarded a reward of ¢ 20,000 to the murderers of the incumbent Mfantseman Constituency deputy, Ekow Quansah Hayford.
In a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Directorate and signed by Police Superintendent Sheila Kesse Abayie-Buckman, the Service said the money will only be released for credible information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
