Progressive People’s Party (PPP) running mate Kofi Asamoah-Siaw has opined that it has become obvious that the Electoral Commission (EC) rigged Techiman South’s parliamentary polls in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr. Asamoah-Siaw says it has become obvious that the NPP did not win the ballot box, but rather colluded with the EC to manipulate it in its favor.
He wrote; “It is becoming very obvious that the New Patriotic Party did not win the Techiman Sur parliamentary seat. Yet every effort is being made to steal that seat from the Democratic National Congress. I am not a member of the NDC, but as a citizen interested in serving in public service through politics, I consider it extremely unfair, traitorous, unfair and a dangerous threat to our democracy to allow my good friend, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah to be sworn in as Member of Parliament “.
In an opinion piece, Mr. Asamoah-Siaw stated that people know the truth, but for the sake of politics, they have refused to speak.
“We all know the truth, but for politics of convenience and other interests, we have feigned ignorance and allowed the national interest to be compromised.”
He struck out at the EC president questioning why her team has not published the declared results for the constituency.
“My biggest disappointment, as a believer in public service, in Ms. Jean Mensah, is her outright refusal to publish the ‘collected’ parliamentary results for Techiman South as dictated by CI 127, its own legislation drafted for the 2020 elections. (For the records, I took the same independent and principled stance when your predecessor, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, blatantly ignored the provisions of CI 94 to unnecessarily disqualify the PPP presidential candidate in the run-up to the 2016 elections.)

Techiman South and related matters
In this article, I will mention the names and titles or positions of key public figures and public officials and ask them to be honest and truthful with us, the people of Ghana, as we try to resolve the controversy over the outcome of the 2020 parliamentary meeting. Elections in the Techiman South constituency.
This is important to me because our inability to resolve the Techiman South controversy in a fair, fair, and timely manner will be an endorsement, by the people I will name here, of the culture of abuse of power, hypocrisy, selfishness, and sometimes , total dishonesty and recklessness. . Those who persecute these “cultural elements” and their collaborators should know, if they do not already know, that their actions and / or inactions threaten our democracy.
I am naming and asking the following people to do the right thing and put the national interest first and above all personal, partisan, emotional, ethnic, religious or other interests.
The people on my list, among others, include His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, His Excellency Vice President Dr. Bawumia, the Ministers of State, the Speaker and all members of Parliament, the Chief of Staff of Defense, the Inspector General of Police, the Chief Justice and the judges of the High Courts of Ghana, all members of the Peace Council, the Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Christian Council, the Pentecostal Council, the Attorney General and your deputy, my own “Santa-mate” and respected legal mastermind Godfred Yeboah Dame, all media, especially GJA President Affail Monney, Bernard Avle of CitiFM, Winston Amoah of JoyFM, Kwame Sefa Kayi of Peace FM, Kwaku Baako Jnr from New Crusading Guide, Election Commission Chairperson Ms. Jean Mensah and her commissioners among other important senior citizens and ordinary citizens of this our beloved country.
It is becoming very obvious that the New Patriotic Party did not win the Techiman Sur parliamentary seat. Yet every effort is being made to steal that seat from the Democratic National Congress. I am not a member of the NDC, but as a citizen interested in serving in public service through politics, I consider it extremely unfair, traitorous, unfair, and a dangerous threat to our democracy to allow my good friend, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah to be sworn in as deputy.
We all know the truth, but for politics of convenience and other interests, we have feigned ignorance and allowed the national interest to be compromised.
My biggest disappointment, as a believer in public service, in Ms. Jean Mensah, is her outright refusal to publish the “compiled” parliamentary results for Techiman South as dictated by CI 127, its own legislation drafted for the 2020 elections. (For the records, I took the same principled and independent stance when your predecessor, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, blatantly ignored the provisions of CI 94 to unnecessarily disqualify the PPP presidential candidate in the run-up to the 2016 election.)
The attitude of Mrs. Jean Mensah in this matter seems to me an attempt to “assist”, “help” or “collaborate” with the New Patriotic Party to unfairly appropriate a seat in its impious attempt to obtain a majority in parliament.
I thought politics is about honestly participating in the democratic process, allowing citizens to freely choose their representatives and allowing democratic options to be maintained without any manipulation. If we don’t want to do that, we better forget that it is our democratic company.
I like public service and active politics, but I like doing politics in the national interest. If any other interest conflicts with the national interest, I have made a personal decision that the national interest must remain paramount. In this regard, I ask the important people named here to think first of Ghana and correct the obvious injustice in the Techiman South constituency. It will be unacceptable to allow the EC to perpetuate an obvious injustice, to allow Martin Korsah to be sworn in as a deputy and to ask victims of a fraudulent statement to prefer to go to court when we all know what it means to go to court. In this point.
All the eminent names I mentioned are due to the nation of Ghana for allowing the EC to do the right thing. If the EC cannot publish the Techiman South Parliamentary Election Check-Sheet and Summary Sheet, why should we accept it as normal and cause a clear act of injustice?
Injustice anywhere is a threat to peace everywhere, so as a country, we must put Ghana first ahead of any parish interest we may have.
The power of the state, teachers Mike Oquaye, Gyimah-Boadi, Boafo Arthur, Ninsin, Keith Bluwey, Yao Gebe, Antwi Danso, etc. taught us at school, must be exercised in the pursuit of the national interest. They also taught us that political parties exist to pursue their interests; which is to win and maintain political power.
However, sensible politicians, senior public officials, heads of security services, clergy, the media, and other citizens have a duty to ensure that the pursuit of partisan and other interests does not compromise the national interest. . The national interest at stake here is for the EC to declare the correct winner of the Techiman Sur constituency parliamentary elections before the next parliament is sworn in.
Therefore, I conclude by calling on the eminent citizens named here to ensure that the results of the Techiman South constituency parliamentary elections are properly collected and declared for the correct winner before the wrong person takes office.
