The Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, has rejected claims by the Ghana Audit Service that he owes an advance of $ 4,020 for travel abroad in 2018.
This comes after a letter signed by Professor Edward Dua Agyemang, president of the service, on 30 November, indicated that available records of an investigation show that, apart from the per diem awarded to Mr Domelevo for traveling to the UK, did not return the additional unused amount. .
But in a quick response, Mr. Domelevo stated that according to Sections 2 (3) and 7 of the Public Financial Management Act 2016 and the Audit Service Regulations 2011 (CI 70), he is not accountable to the President of the Audit Service.
He added: “Not even a pesewa stands out to me for any advance or advance that I took for any of my trips.”
Mr. Domelevo, who is currently on compulsory license, also questioned the legality of the Board President’s request, stating that the case is still in the Supreme Court.
Therefore, he described Professor Dua Agyemang’s decision to pursue the issue in contempt.
Mr. Domelevo also wondered why Professor Dua Agyemang was still addressing himself as Chairman of the Board of the Audit Service.
For Domelevo, the term of the chairman of the board ended on Sunday, October 11, 2020.
Therefore, he said, “Until he presents proof of his re-election in accordance with article 189 (1) and article 5 (1) of Law 584, I consider that he is acting ultra vires and I will treat him as such.”
