The Electoral Commission (EC) has said that there is no place for disqualified applicants to turn to the Commission for consideration.
The Head of Public Relations for the Commission, Sylvia Annor, explained that applicants were given enough time to go through the submission process, therefore they will not have another chance.
“Now we have finished with that process and we are moving forward with another process,” he told JoyNews.
He said that the EC will continue with the voting process.
This comes after five of the 17 applicants who ran for the 2020 presidential seat were disqualified by the EC.
All five: Kwesi Addae Odike, Kofi Koranteng, Marricke Kofi Gane, Kwasi Busumbru and Nana Agyenim Boateng were disqualified due to what the EC described as inconsistencies with their submission forms.
Their cases were concerned with allegations of forgery of signatures and the fabrication of endorsements that will be sent to the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
According to the Commission, these applicants were duly informed about the inconsistencies and given time to respond to the questions, which they did.
This, explained the head of Public Relations, has made it necessary for the Commission to advance in other processes.
However, he noted that the Commission has not yet officially written to inform applicants of their disqualification.
He also said that the attention of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been called to the matter so that more investigations are carried out.
