The deputy for the central constituency of Tamale, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has said that the invitation made by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on the comments he made that former president John Dramani Mahama should declare himself president and form a parallel government is flawed.
He indicated that the investigations are not for comments, they are for crimes or alleged crimes and therefore the invitation itself.
However, he said, he is consulting his lawyers on this invitation.
“The invitation has a major flaw. They say I should come and help them in an investigation into the comments I made on Pan African TV that they said they quoted but the investigations are not about comments, they are about crimes or alleged crimes and so the invitation itself is flawed.
“Because I have the constitutional right to be told the nature of the crime that is being investigated, but anyway, I think my lawyers will have lawyers in the best possible course of action in terms of inviting the police,” he said. said.
Appearing on Pan-African Television’s ‘Alhaji & Alhaji’ program on Saturday December 12, the lawyer and legislator stated: “I have said and defended that the standard bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, and former President of the Republic of Ghana declares himself president and forms a parallel government ”.
He added: “[Mr. Mahama] he should declare himself president and establish a parallel government. The impunity of this government is too much, that’s how we stop it ”.
Consequently, the CID has initiated investigations into these comments as traitors.
Therefore, the Director General of the COP Department, Isaac Ken Yeboah, wrote to the Speaker of Parliament, Reverend Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, requesting the release of the MP to assist in the investigations.
The Spokesperson, in turn, wrote to the Tamale Central Member, through the Secretary of Parliament, to be “available for interaction with the Ghana Police on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at 10 am at CID Headquarters, 2nd floor, Room 2 “.
