Everton’s Alex Iwobi scored two goals for Nigeria against Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone rallied from 4-0 against Nigeria to draw 4-4 on Friday in their 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier after a spectacular comeback in Benin City.

The Super Eagles were heading for a third win of three in Group L after reaching a 4-0 lead in the first half hour of the game.

Everton forward Alex Iwobi scored twice, with his first goal coming in the fourth minute.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen found the net in the 21st minute on his return to the Nigeria team.

Osimhen then set up Iwobi, who scored his second goal six minutes later and Villareal’s Samuel Chukwueze added a fourth, with another assist from Osimhen.

Sierra Leone started their impressive comeback just before the break when Kwame Quee scored what appeared to be a consolation goal.

Alhaji Kamara began to stamp his mark on the match. He added a second for the visitors in the 72nd minute to make it 4-2.

Mustapha Bundu then added a third for Sierra Leone to make it 4-3 with 10 minutes remaining.

Nigeria was stunned when Alhaji Kamara completed an astonishing performance by his team with a draw with four minutes remaining.

Nigeria continues to lead their group with seven points, with Sierra Leone third, five points adrift. Runner-up Benin will play last Saturday with Lesotho.

Also on friday Niger hit Ethiopia 1-0 in Niamey thanks to a penalty from Youssef Oumarou in the second half.

Niger and Ethiopia are three points in Group K behind the first two, Ivory Coast and Madagascar, both with six points.

The final phase of the African Cup of Nations will be played in Cameroon in 2022.
