Dr. Francis Appiah, Obstetrician and Gynecologist and Medical Director of First Class Hospital in Assin Nsuta, has appealed to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to consider paying claims to hospitals private on time.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Nsuta, he said that 95% of patients in many private health centers were subscribed to the National Health Insurance Plan.
He said that since February this year the claims have not been paid, making it difficult to pay workers’ wages, taxes, utilities and many more.
It is in this context that he calls on the government to intervene to speed up the payment of claims, as private hospitals were also contributing their share to the health sector in Ghana.
He called for collaborative efforts in which health personnel will be assigned to carry out their national service in private hospitals.
In covid-19, Dr. Appiah asked the public to observe safety protocols and also practice personal and environmental hygiene, clear your environment of all weeds and dirt, and drain gutters to safeguard your health.
