PSG lost their Ligue 1 lead and Neymar lost his head on Saturday as the Brazilian was sent off for pushing Lille defender Tiago Djalo before the two met in the tunnel.
Lille seized first place with a 1-0 win over the champions, with Jonathan David scoring the winning goal if a fierce clash saw Neymar and Kylian Mbappé squander a number of chances.
Neymar saw red in injury time, responding furiously after a tough challenge from Djalo. He got his second yellow for pushing the center back, who was also sent off for his foul-mouthed spiel aimed at the winger.
The two men continued to row as they left the field together, and Neymar hit the 20-year-old once a referee came between the two in the tunnel.
Djalo then knocked one of the men who was trying to pin him down as he tried to retaliate, before the irate players were finally herded back to their dressing rooms.
The PSG star will now face a ban and even more time on the sidelines after returning from injury for the champions’ last game, a win over Lyon.
Neymar has only managed 12 league games this season, with his season ruined by injuries and suspensions.
The outbreak against Lille was the former Barcelona player’s second red card of the season, having been sent off for his participation in a massive fight that erupted in injury time when PSG fell 1-0 to rival Marseilles.
The 29-year-old’s inability to control his frustration threatens to overshadow his career, with the winger making more headlines with his smug demeanor than his brilliant technique.
