Spanish newspaper Marca has claimed that future new owners of Newcastle United have made Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale a top priority this summer, and they can get the Welshman for just £ 17.5 million.
Bale, 30, is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer after having scored just three goals in 18 games, and developed a strained relationship with both Real supporters and coach Zinedine Zidane.
The report indicates that Newcastle would be willing to meet its bid price, in addition to matching its current salary of £ 285,000 a week. However, despite the lack of minutes, Bale is happy and wants to see his current contract, which ends in 2022.
The report suggests that having a great name like Mauricio Pochettino on the bench could help, especially since Pochettino said during his days in Tottenham: “He is a great player, a player who would improve our team and the profile we are looking for.”
