Democratic National Congress (NDC) Agona West’s parliamentary candidate, Paul Ofori Amoah, was released on bail from a Cape Coast circuit court.

Mr. Ofori was charged with aiding and inciting the activities of the vigilante law of political parties.

He was preliminarily charged with preparations to commit a crime, such as murder and complicity to commit a crime, that is, murder, but was released on bail.

Paul Ofori Amoah was in the hands of police in the Central Region for an alleged plot to assassinate Agona West MP and Gender Minister Cynthia Mamle Morrison.

Mr. Ofori-Amuah is said to have admitted to writing two checks found with the suspects in their hotel room in Swedru, a city in the Central Region where they were arrested on October 17.

Second assassination plot

Meanwhile, the Swedru Divisional Police Command detained another group of criminals for another attempt to assassinate the Minister.

The alleged criminals, six in total, were detained in a hotel where they were staying, under the pretext of galamsey in the area.

Intelligence compiled by Security in Swedru revealed that the suspects, John Toko, 26; Emmanuel Mensah, 25; Elvis Kwabena Poku, 36; Kwabena Poku, 48 years old; Wahab Saeed, 26, and Kweku Amponsah, 26, were using a Corolla taxi with registration number (AS 4534-19) to follow the MP on the Agona Otsenkorang road.

This was when the MP was on a campaign tour from that city and its neighboring towns, reported a source from the Divisional Police Command.

The source said that the MP and his campaign team suspected the behavior of the occupants in the taxi after realizing they were being followed and reported the matter to the police.

The source added that the police kept an eye on them at the hotel until they arrived at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Toko tried to escape when he saw the police, but they were eventually arrested.
