The founder and CEO of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, attacked the opposition NDC for claiming to have won majority parliamentary seats in the current elections.

The private attorney who is also President Akufo-Addo’s cousin in a series of tweets said that the NDC is making claims that they cannot justify.

According to him, although the ruling PNP has lost several seats to its opponent, the NDC will still not be a majority in parliament.

He insists that just as the NDC has ‘flipped’ some seats, so the NPP has ‘flipped’ the seats that previously belonged to the NDC.

“It’s a flip flop! My projection: NPP will decide on the next Speaker of Parliament and the First Vice President. A president of the PNP will form the next government and there will be no second round. That says the certified information from the polling stations.

“NDC has not won 140 seats and will not secure 140 seats even if they are given all the disputed seats,” he said.

The NDC in a press conference on Tuesday claimed that it had won 141 parliamentary seats out of a total of 275 seats in parliament.

The party’s general secretary, Asiedu Nketia, who addressed the media highlighted that it is a great victory for the party and added that the NDC will have full control of the House in the eighth term of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

However, Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko reminded the NDC of the parliamentary seats it has lost.

He also acknowledged the loss of NPP, describing the parliamentary casualties as “disappointing.”

“When all is said and done, NDC has every reason to be proud of what they have accomplished in this election.

“You may not have changed parliament and won the presidency, but you have done very well. After all, it is a ruling party that is going for its second term, ”he said.
