National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Mahama says his next administration will transform Suame Magazine in Kumasi into Ghana’s automotive industrial center.

Speaking during a mini-rally in Suame, he said the party will bring many initiatives to Magazine to ensure the dream comes true.

Naming some of them, John Mahama said that his next administration will build the roads and drains within the Suame Magazine enclave to improve traffic flow.

Mahama assured the artisans that his next government would review the 2020 Customs (Amendment) Act (Law 1014) to remove the law prohibiting the importation of salvaged vehicles.

He said this would save the local auto industry as they relied heavily on spare parts for vehicles.

He also assured them that his clinic would become a polyclinic to provide better health services to artisans, adding that the facility would have an accident and emergency center to care for the injured.

John Mahama said the NDC will establish a training school with state-of-the-art facilities such as diagnostic machines to train and equip craftsmen in repaired cars.

He added that the administration would implement a youth entrepreneurship program, as part of efforts to address youth unemployment.

The standard-bearer said his government will provide opportunities for young people to acquire free technical and vocational skills that allow them to undertake.

Mr. Mahama stated that he will also implement a National Free Apprenticeship Program by establishing centers in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions in various districts.

This will provide free training and sponsorship for youth as certified master craftsmen.
