The Democratic National Congress in the Northern Region is questioning the police how a person from the NDC may have shot his own supporter during the celebration of the declaration of the NDC candidate as the winner of the Savelugu seat.
The party said police should target a PNP sympathizer whom they named Gabby for allegedly shooting at the police station.
At a press conference in Tamale, the NDC’s northern regional secretary, Mohammed Abdul Salam, said the party believes it is a plot to hang a murder charge on the elected CP.
He said why the police would search the premises without the owners and a warrant if the police had no bad motives.

Mr. Salam also asked why the police have concluded that the office belongs to the PC when it is owned by the NDC.
“Our elected deputy does not have an office, if there was a search, they took our table, computers and other things without our presence and an order that the office belongs to the NDC Savelugu constituency and not to the PC,” he added. It makes no sense for anyone to think that someone who is part of the jubilant people of the same party will shoot themselves up. ” He told the media
Mr. Salam accused the police of illegality by searching the party office without a warrant.
The party’s northern regional secretary also accused the ruling New Patriotic Party of being behind the shooting that killed the 14-year-old girl in Savelugu at the NDC party office. He said the NDC has so far cooperated with the police, so it was surprising to hear on the news at a press conference yesterday from the police that the weapons were found in the MP-elect’s office.

Salem said that the parliamentary candidate elected by Savelugu is a man of integrity whose 27 years of service as a public servant has no criminal record, adding that he is also a member of royalty who will not participate in any criminal act. He claimed that the PNP’s attempt to damage his reputation due to his victory will not be washed away.
