The Democratic National Congress (NDC) should have been patient and listened to ministerial nominees in the background check before passing judgment on them, said the Executive Director of the African Center for Parliamentary Affairs.
Dr. Rasheed Draman said that the NDC had taken a position on some of the ministerial nominees long before facing the Parliament’s Nominating Committee.
Therefore, he hinted that the outcome of the investigation, the approval of all the nominees, was disappointing to the party’s supporters.
Dr. Draman made these remarks on The Keypoints on TV3 / 3FM on Saturday, April 3.
It follows the apparent crisis that has affected the leadership of the NDC committee in Parliament following the approval of all the ministerial candidates of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The result of the background check has led to disputes within the party with North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who resigned from the Committee.
According to Dr. Draman, “it is too early to pass judgment on the NDC” as there are more years left for the current Parliament, noting that the election of Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin should not go unnoticed by party supporters.
“I think there are so many contradictions here that need to be resolved, but I think that for me to pass judgment on the NDC it will be too soon,” he said, advising alleged party infantrymen to be patient. your parliamentarians.
In addition, on the program was the chairman of the NDC of the Greater Accra region, Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, who insisted that the party’s MPs must vote at all times in line with the party’s position.
He stated that the party was clear in its decision on some of the nominees, but it turned out that they were outmatched.
He revealed that “in the future, his voting record in Parliament may be removed. If you go to the United States, there is nothing like consensus. “
