The Democratic National Congress has revoked the membership of 18 parliamentary candidates from its ranks for contesting their seats as independent candidates.
According to the NDC, all 18 lost their membership by running as independent candidates.
“The Democratic National Congress wishes to draw to the attention of all party members, supporters and the general public that the following members who sought and obtained the Election Commission nomination to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections as INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES have lost their party membership. . “
This was stated in a press release dated Tuesday, November 3 and signed by NDC Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
Furthermore, it stated that “all party members who endorsed your nomination form, campaigned for you or who openly associated with your campaign activities are equally in violation of the above provisions and therefore suffer the same punishment than independent candidates “.
Therefore, all affected persons have been ordered to hand over all party paraphernalia in their possession to their respective secretariats and are prohibited from using the name of the NDC flag bearer in their campaigns.
“They must hand over all party property in their possession to their respective constituency secretariats, and they must immediately stop using party paraphernalia and the flag-bearer’s name in all their campaigns.”
