NDC promises to award scholarships to creative artists

The opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) has promised to award scholarships to creatives who do not have the means to develop their capacity.

According to the manifesto document, the NDC, “will make scholarship packages available for underprivileged creative artists to pursue self-development courses or programs in the national interest.”

He has also promised to “structure the educational curriculum so that students can appreciate the relevance of culture and the creative arts in national life and development.”

Also in relation to arts education, NDDC promised to promote district, regional, and national competitions to inspire creativity among youth in tertiary institutions.

In the 2016 manifesto of the Democratic National Congress, the party made similar provisions:

“Strengthen national arts and culture festivals, regional and national theater festivals for schools and universities, and cultural programs and festivals for youth and children; organize international exchange programs for creative arts professionals to enhance collaboration and enhance the capacity of Ghanaian creative artists ”.

The Democratic National Congress launched its 2020 manifesto on Monday, September 7 in Accra.

Below is the full list of promises captured in NDC’s manifesto for the creative arts industry:

to. Implement programs to support the growth of the film, music, and creative industries to drive job creation and economic growth.

yes. recourse to nationally recognized creative arts bodies such as the Ghana Writers Association, MUSIGHA, the National Film Authority, the Ghana Visual Arts Union (GUVA), among others

C. strengthen regulation to protect artists’ copyrights and ensure that they derive value from their works by enforcing user fees under the Copyright Regulations, 2010 (LI 1962)

re. Establish a legal aid system for creative artists to help combat plagiarism and creative / intellectual theft by others.

me. Pass the Creative Industry Bill and apply it to promote the development of the industry.

F. Provide resources to national museums and empower them to function well and create space for exhibitions.

gram. promote local sponsorship of various creative products

h. partner with GUVA and other fine arts associations to purchase their finished works to furnish and decorate public offices to support fine arts businesses

Through the National Film Authority, to encourage our embassies abroad to periodically purchase and show appropriate Ghanaian films on Ghana Day and other special occasions.

j. in collaboration with the Ghana Writers Association, establish a National Writing Competition and support the promotion of the best literary works

k. provide seed money for the creation of a special fund for artists, including elderly and needy creative artists
